  10. Long: Yamaha XG DEMO Standard MIDI Files  (SMF) both file formats 0 and
  11. 1 converted to Music-X Sequence  file  format 0 and Music-X Performance
  12. file format 1.

  14. All files have been edited to  be General MIDI (GM) Standard compatible
  15. and contain SYSEX data for GM  On  together with the correct Contollers
  16. and PGM  parameters for  the  Roland  GM  Standard..  These were edited
  17. using Music-X V2.0 on an Amiga 2000HD,  5Mb RAM, 540Mb SCSI internal HD
  18. and 730Mb external SCSI HD  and  then  saved  to  disk in Music-X's own
  19. Sequencer file formats.. A  Korg  i3  Interactive Music Workstation was
  20. used for sequencing/re-configuring of GM parameters within each Music-X
  21. file.. Therefore, the XG setup within  each  file  has been removed and
  22. General MIDI (GM) specific parameters has been implemented!
  23.  
  24. Both file formats ie. Music-X files have been archived using LHA.

  26. ** Music-X Songs **
  27. 1. Bird of Paradise by Snowy White (was guitarist in Thin Lizzy)
  28. 2. Gat Kirwani (cool Indian peice with excellent percussion)
  29. 3. Swamp Thing by The Grid
  30. 4. Topsy (Jazz number)

  32. The  Music-X files   here  represent  the  edited  GM/GS versions which
  33. accompany the  originals  in  the   XGDEMMX0.lha  and   XGDEMMX0.readme
  34. archive. Therefore, the Music-X files  in   this  XGDEMMX1.lha  archive
  35. should play correctly on any GM/GS synths..

  37. All copyright notices for  Yamaha   have   been  respected (the Music-X
  38. files, didn`t have a (c)   notice  actually because they were converted
  39. from SMFs but I`ve embedded   a  copyright  (c)  notice  in each of the
  40. Music-X 1  files  anyway)! That way  you know  who originally  produced
  41. the  files  and  that  they   were   probably  demo files  accompanying
  42. a Yamaha manufactured synthersizer with XG MIDI facilities..

  44. Making these Music-X  files   available   on   the   NET   is   not  an
  45. infringment of copyright  but  simply  a  means  of  making these files
  46. available to a wider audience so other MIDI freaks  can  appreciate the
  47. professional quality of these MIDI arrangements..

  49. If you`d  like  to  play  these  edited   GM/GS  versions  then you can
  50. use  MIDI Performance Manager (MPM)  by  Andreas Jung (which plays both
  51. SMFs and Music-X Performance  files)  and  this  can  be located on the
  52. German published "Meeting Pearls  III"  CD-ROM  available from all good
  53. vendors.. If you've got  Music-X  V1.1  or  even  better, V2.0, then no
  54. problem, you've got probably the best  sequencer available on the Amiga
  55. platform and the songs in this  archive  will load and play from within
  56. Music-X.. All you need is  a  GM/GS  synth  with  32 note polyphony and
  57. you're away..

  67. I`m a Music-X/SMF expert  with  my  own  recording  studio using Amigas
  68. (A2000. A1200 and a A500+), I`ve also   had  an audio CD called "A Drop
  69. in the Ocean" released  with  my  co-composer  brother, where all music
  70. was sequenced using Amigas..  Some  Amiga  musicians/MIDI freaks on the
  71. NET  may  remember me from the AM/FM magazine which  was  published  on
  72. floppy  disk  by  Bjørn  Lynne (Dr. Awesome)  a couple of years ago.  I
  73. used to write arcticles and  produce  MIDI  music  for AM/FM as one  of
  74. The  Craft Brothers..  I've  taken  AM/FM  over  and   now   publish  a
  75. similar  music  based  disk  magazine called MIDICraft Magazine and I'm
  76. onto issue #11 already.. I'm  been  a  ßeta  tester for OctaMED and I'm
